Instructions for Coordinating a Food and/or Non-Food Drive
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN COORDINATING A FOOD AND/OR NON-FOOD DRIVE TO HELP ALLEVIATE HUNGER IN OUR COMMUNITY. HERE ARE SOME HELPFUL HINTS TO MAXIMIZE THE BENEFIT OF YOUR CONTRIBUTION.
1) Contact us at 269-415-0444 or email@example.com to discuss timing and type of drive that you are interested in sponsoring. If you call outside our normal hours of operation, a pantry representative will respond to your message. Please wait to hear from this representative before proceeding to make any plans.
2) If the drive is to be done at a grocery store, contact the store manager for permission and to make necessary arrangements.
3) After a drive date/time/location is determined, our Community Outreach Coordinator will contact you about promotional materials that you may need. You will also be given a targeted wish list for your drive.
4) Discuss with the pantry representative plans for getting the product to the pantry – either by your volunteers or to arrange pick up by pantry volunteers.
Timing of the drive can be an issue. We try to space them out over the course of the year, so that we are not asking the public for donations too often. Also, available storage space at the pantry can be a limiting factor. Recurring food drives occur in May, August, and November. Thanksgiving through Christmas is the time we receive the most donations; however our greatest time of need is June, July, and August.
