A corporate pillar in the communities we serve, Welch’s Lawton plant has been in operation since 1919. The Lawton plant employs over 100 employees and processes grapes during harvest season and produces approximately 2.5 million cases of Sparkling Juice Cocktails annually.

It’s through Welch’s, both as a corporation and as a team of dedicated employees, that Eleanor’s Pantry has indeed benefited.

Earlier this Summer as schools approached summer break, the employees of Welch’s Lawton Plant sprang into action and organized a fundraiser which produced over 300 Snack Bags for kids visiting the pantry, a time when food is not quite as readily available for our young ones. The contents were donated by employees, as well as assembled and delivered to the doorsteps of the pantry. Those efforts brought ample smiles and nourishment to our young visitors and made a significant impact.  “The Lawton Plant is happy that we can support Eleanor’s Pantry through both monetary and food donations.  The employees have always been generous when it comes to helping Eleanor’s Pantry feed the local community,” states Kathy Hadaway, the local plant’s Growing Tomorrow Together Advocate.

Last month the pantry was once again honored to be the recipient of a corporate donation from Welch’s in the amount of $2,000. That donation goes a long way in securing the necessary food items needed in the coming months at the pantry.
“We’re proud to support Eleanor’s Pantry whose mission aligns perfectly with Welch’s commitment to feeding our communities. We are grateful for the work they do, and we look forward to working together to continue making an impact,” shares Nicole Peterson, Welch’s Corporate Senior Sustainability Manager/Senior Corporate Counsel.

Welch’s is the world’s leading marketer of Concord and Niagara-based grape products. Welch’s sustainability initiative of “Growing Tomorrow Together” includes sustainable practices, one of which is that of Serving the Community. It states that “Welch’s employees and farmers are committed to improving the communities in which we work and live. We show this commitment through donating our products to help feed families in our local communities and through encouraging employee volunteerism.”

At the pantry, we know first-hand that Welch’s does that and so much more.
